Active street projects

Howard Street: Glenna South to Sherwood Way

Construction type: mill and overlay, reconstruction of roadway, utility rehabilitation and installation of sidewalks/signal improvements.

Cost: $7.3 million.

Construction phase: Underway

Edmund/Glenna/29th Street

Construction type:
mill and overlay, reconstruction of roadway, utility rehabilitation and installation of sidewalks/signal improvements.

Design phase: 100% complete.

Construction Phase: Underground utility replacement work has been completed on the first phase of the project from Loop 306 to Howard Street. Paving work on this phase is scheduled to begin around Feb. 3, pending any potential weather delays. Utility work is continuing on Edmund and 29th Street between Howard Street and N. Chadbourne. Please be cautious in these areas and adhere to any changes to traffic flows.

The City will be utilizing Full-Depth Reclamation or FDR for paving of the roadway.

FDR, is a great solution for roads that don’t require curb replacements or roads that don't have bases in shape for the common mill and overlay process. During the FDR process, the existing roadway’s gravel and asphalt layers are grinded together before cement and liquid asphalt are mixed and rolled out to make the new base. In a short time, the base is drivable. An asphalt layer is then added on top, finalizing the new roadway.

FDR was most recently used on N. Chadbourne and Rio Concho Drive

Street signage

Signs indicating what type of traffic is permitted.

  • Closed to thru traffic/no thru traffic – Normal traffic on the roadway is closed but vehicles are permitted to pass to access properties in the area.
  • Road closed – No vehicles beyond this sign or barricade.

*Please be mindful of speed limit reductions in construction zones.
