City Manager Daniel Valenzuela has announced the formation of the Animal Services & Control Task Force to address critical issues related to animal services and control. The initiative was authorized by City Council and aims to develop effective, objective solutions to prioritize public health, safety and animal welfare.
The first meeting will be held at 4 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 23, at City Hall. The meeting will be closed to the public so members may set their agenda and schedule future meetings.
The task force consists of nine members who were chosen based on their written and verbal expressions of interest. Valenzuela personally interviewed candidates to determine each member’s knowledge and objectivity in order to create a diverse team with knowledge in animal services and control.
“Establishing a focused and knowledgeable task force is critical to developing effective and balanced solutions for our community,” Valenzuela said. “This team’s dedicated efforts will help us address these issues in a way that ensures public health and safety while also addressing animal welfare.”
